Australian Vinegar

Australian Vinegar was established in 2005 to meet the industry need for a dedicated, quality vinegar solutions provider and since then has evolved into Australia’s premier vinegar supplier. The company moves vinegar, both domestically and internationally to food manufacturers for use in dressings, sauces, marinades and pickled products. Australian Vinegar produces vinegar products such as Balsamic, Wine & Apple, manufactures and bottles private label vinegar, offers a range of bulk products for small and large food manufacturers and custom vinegars for specific food applications.

The demand for commodity and non-commodity vinegar is strong with solid growth expectation for at least the next 5 years. Australian Vinegar is confident of capturing this growth by remaining flexible to Vinegar needs of all manufacturers in both innovative products and clever delivery mechanisms appropriate to the customer. Reducing packaging, waste and minimising freight are at the forefront of all food manufactures minds at present and the Intercon addresses these issues perfectly.

With production increasing at Australian Vinegar’s Stanthorpe site in Queensland, Australia the company realised the critical importance of a business partner that could provide a custom solution and grow with the business. CHEP was the partner of choice.

Australian Vinegar places a high importance on product hygiene and quality. The incumbent process used for packaging and moving bulk product required a stringent cleaning process to eliminate any possibilities of contamination.

The increasing cost of this process led Australian Vinegar to work with CHEP to seek alternative options without compromising product integrity.

“Our suppliers love the resealable valve concept. It’s a quantum leap in the efficient usage of the bag in box technology”, said Australian Vinegar’s Ian Henderson.

CHEP’s Business Manager, Peter Gaddes said, “We were able to address Australian Vinegar’s hygiene requirements by providing a brand new IBC liner for each use. The combined solution of our plastic Intercon unit and liner bag, with resealable Maxivalve, resolved the customer’s concerns with the additional benefit of being collapsible and reducing warehouse space”.

Over a number of months, CHEP worked with Australian Vinegar and its supply chain partners to evaluate the compatibility of plastic, foldable Intercon and Maxivalve.

With Australian Vinegar’s domestic customers spread across the country, CHEP hire & transfer system enabled Australian Vinegar, and its customers, to share the packaging costs and allowed for the movement of 1000L shipments without the necessity to relocate empty units back to the fill site.  The Intercons can be easily returned to any capital city and its collapsible feature further reduces transport costs and addressed a critical space shortage in their warehouse.

“The attention that CHEP staff provided, cemented the customers commitment to the new technology” – Ian Henderson, Australian Vinegar

Australian Vinegar strives to be Australia’s best producer in terms of quality, innovation and service and the team at CHEP is excited to contribute to Australian Vinegar’s success.
